Nearly a month has passed since the release of NBA Playgrounds and the online mode has yet to surface. As Matt Karch had said in our launch day interview, online was supposed to come very shortly after the launch of the game. As an apology to gamers who went ahead and bought the game expecting to be able to play with their friends over the internet, current owners of NBA Playgrounds will receive a complimentary copy of Shaq Fu: A Legend Reborn when it releases later this year!
“We had every intention of launching online play for NBA Playgrounds on Nintendo Switch within days of release, but, despite our best efforts, it didn’t play out that way,” said Matthew Karch, CEO of Saber. “We sincerely apologize for the delay and want to let everyone know the fix will be coming very soon. But words are cheap, and games are not. So we’re giving everyone that bought NBA Playgrounds on Nintendo Switch before the online play patch hits a free copy of Shaq Fu: A Legend Reborn on Switch when it is available this fall to express our gratitude.”
The Playstation 4 has already seen the first update to the game, including 15 new players, the ability to change Shaq’s team, and disconnection penalties and a brand new Challenge Mode. One of the biggest updates are some tweaks to shooting and the introduction to a shooting meter to better assist the timing of shots. Expect these updates soon on the Nintendo Switch, for real this time.
Details have yet to come out about the release of Shaq Fu: A Legend Reborn, other than the exclusive comments in our interview that the game is already complete, but expect some information shortly about the impending release and how to receive a complimentary version of the game. Note: We had held off on going live with our review of the game until online mode is complete. Our review will go live tomorrow, Saturday the 3rd, and be updated with additional text as new features and ballers are released.
