The Nintendo Switch launched without support for any major video services, such as Netflix, Hulu, or Amazon, much to the chagrin of many gamers. It was speculated by most that this support would come later down the line, as it did with previous Nintendo consoles. In an interview with Washington Post, Reggie Fils-Aime, President of Nintendo of America, commented on the lack of applications and the future of this type of software.
“We’re talking to a range of companies about other services, companies like Netflix, Hulu, Amazon — things that will come in time,”
Reggie continued on to explain that Nintendo focuses on gaming first and foremost, and that is how they plan to differentiate the Switch.
In our view, these are not differentiators. What differentiates us is the way you play with the Nintendo Switch and what you can play. And that will continue to be our focus into the future as we continue driving this platform.
Hopefully these services come sooner rather than later.
